I am a huge fan of Kate L Mary’s books and this one did not disappoint!! You can’t go wrong with zombies and romance. I don’t normally like young adult books but I still enjoyed it! I loved the ending and how it was different than most books. The ending is what makes this book stand out and is more realistic and authentic because of it! I highly suggest this book especially if you have read Broken World.Product details

I'm a HUGE fan of Kate L. Mary's zombie apocalypse books and this one did NOT disappoint! It is completely separate from her Broken World series, but I like how there were some connections with the two. And the ending... WOWZA!! LOVED it!!
I love all of this author's books! Zombie books are a favorite and add romance and I am hooked! This book had it all and the ending....I won't spoil it but was glad she stuck with her original version as opposed to the alternate ending.
I can't say a whole lot without giving away the ending, however, the ending left me shocked, I don't think I have ever been so shocked at an ending in my life, it was so dark that I had no idea if I was happy about the ending, or upset. I think a lot of both! The alternative ending was a great treat, I wish more authors did this, it's an added bonus for us. We get to pick our own ending we like best. The tiny appearances of the Broken World characters was awesome, even if it was very short, it's nice to know some of them are still alive after 2 years.
Kate L. Mary is a great author and one of my favorites, I will read all her series from her on out, especially the dark ones, she has a way of gripping you and your left with wanting more! Thank You for the awesome novel, even if it's only a standalone, I hope we get more dark stories of some sort in the future! A++++
This is truly an amazing book. Could not put it down. I know it is for young adults and I'm 72 but hey, I still loved it. Great job Kate L Mary.
Terrific story! True to life in a dark, hard world...but with an alternate ending so that you can feel better about the outcome. I truly enjoy every single book she has written. In spite of her fantasy world all of it is believable, she just brings her characters to life.
I became a fan of Kate L. Mary ever since I gave Broken World a shot. I've followed Axl and Vivian's story and when I heard she was releasing a new book, I pre-ordered it.
Now imagine my surprise when I sat down to read the book that she felt the need to explain that while this was set in the same universe as Axl and Viv, it was not an Axl and Viv story. Ok, no worries, whatever.
My full take is found over on my blog, but I enjoyed the beginning of this series.
I will admit, I love a happy ending, but sometimes, in real life, as well as fiction, the endings can be tragic, but it doesn't change the fact that this is an amazing book. The characters are believable and true to themselves, and the love story is beautiful. I really enjoyed the little moment in Atlanta with Axl and family, because that whole series is one of my favorites, too. If you absolutely can't stand the tragedy, the alternate ending is perfect!
