DeepStorm OutTack eBook George S Boughton Reviews
This is a profoundly well researched book. The science seems almost beyond fiction and throws up terrifying possibilities for everyone on planet Earth. We all presume that dinosaurs were wiped out by a big chunk of rock and ice smashing into our planet and triggering a killing event on a global scale, but what if the truth was something much, much worse?
Boughton has realised this possibility with chilling clarity and ice cold elegance, to the point that his cast of genetically enhance fimans, beautiful AIs and an all seeing observer/narrator are almost subsumed in the grim effects visited not just on Earth but the whole solar system. Allow the story to unfold and work with his extremely individual writing style. You will be rewarded.
"DeepStorm OutTack" is clearly a book that has been deeply thought of. The author is very thorough in his vision of the future and scientific concepts used in this story. He explains and exposes these very minutely, which is fascinating. Actually, if I have a criticism to do, it's that he might be a bit too thorough, which made me feel at time that I was reading a textbook rather than I novel. I found it extremely interesting, but it might be a bit difficult for those who are not that into science and theorization.
I found the theories very sound, actually more than the story, where, if I'm finicky, some details are passed over a bit quickly. We clearly see where the priority of the book lays. It is probably one of the only times where I am going to say this, but I would not have been against quicker discussions about the researches and discoveries done in this book, since it did felt a bit repetitive after a while, and more time spent developing the story and the characters feeling.
Worldbuilding was very well done. I loved discovering our future and new places with the characters. I really liked also how the author made use of the media, allowing us to keep an eye on the changes all around the world while following the main action closely.
Finally, characters are endearing. I am looking forward to reading their coming adventures.
